Twitter is an excellent place for a quick post that all of your followers can see. You could create a profile that is specific for you teaching and students could follow you to see your reminders to them such as "test tomorrow. study hard" or "tutorials in the am."
I think that twitter might not be the best place if you have a blog or website that students can follow you on, however, it certainly would be effective at communicating to students.

Thing 15 - Skype
Skype can be used in almost any classroom or library setting. I would recommend that my students use skype or some program similar to complete group projects together. By allowing students to use skype, there is no more reason for students without the ability to drive to be unable to communicate and meet with members in their group. Their group is simply online and they need only to meet at the same time.
Further, a teacher can use sky to communicate with his/her students to answer questions. Though I would certainly be extra careful with this. It would probably be more appropriate to have students post questions to a feed where the teacher can see and then the teacher can upload a YouTube video answering that question. I feel that would be more acceptable than having a student and teacher video conferencing out side of the classroom.

Thing 14 - Podcast
While searching the iTunes educators website, I found a plethora of information in regards to teaching and Texas Educators. Under Mathematics > How Children Think About Math > Geometry with Jane, I found some useful information and tips on how to present mathematical topics in geometry to different students who may not understand one method of presentation. By looking through other people's research on iTune, I am able to discover more ideas for my classroom.
Thing 12 and 13 - YouTube
As I mentioned in my last post when talking about Web 2.0 tools, YouTube is one of the best.
I have searched YouTube and found a link to help with classifying triangles that my students could use for extra help on their homework. This is like having a teacher come home with you.
Further, as I mentioned in my last post, YouTube allows me to upload videos as well. Click on the link to go to my YouTube Channel.

Thing 11 - Web 2.0 Tools
While looking through the list, I noticed YouTube was the first place for uploading videos. There is no doubt that they take first place due to their overall popularity and usefulness. I can see youtube being used constantly in the classroom. Teachers are able to show how to complete a homework problem and then upload it to the web so that students can watch the teachers do the problem at home as they work.

Though I am a math teacher, I do enjoy some good explosions in chemistry and that is what you will find on my channel.

Thing 10 - Online Productivity Tools
Online Productivity Tools are rather amazing. They allow users to use programs such as Word, Powerpoint, excel, pages, numbers, and keynote all online. Though they currently lack the same power that the computer based programs have, they certainly do offer more connectivity between users. At my school, we have begun using google documents which are online productivity tools and I must say that it is nice to occasionally be able to work on a document online on my school computer, go home, and then work on the exact same document in the exact same program on my home computer. As these tools become more powerful, I believe that a massive switch will be made from Microsoft office to online productivity tools.
Thing 9 - Play with Wikis
It was rather interesting to be able to play with wiki's where all the students post to the same place. The only thing that I would consider needing if a tool such as this were to be used in my classroom is for the teacher to have the ability to see all the changes that each individual student makes. This would prevent one student from changing another's ideas in a place that is as easy to manipulate as that wiki was. However, it seems to be an excellent idea.
Thing 8 - Wiki
Wiki's would be excellent for classroom collaboration outside of the classroom. I could give students an assignment where they are to all, as a community, go and edit a wiki by posting in their own experiences and information. By taking ideas from all the students, we could discuss the topic the next day in class with everyone having already participated. It would be an excellent way to increase student participation online since not every student can answer every question in class.
Thing 7 - Image Generator's
Wordle which uses word clouds could be very useful as far as definitions go for a course such as Geometry. Students could use this to both compare and contrast different definitions. I could create an assignment where students were required to use any of these websites and their vocabulary words to create a project. This project would be extremely beneficial for helping students to study and prepare for upcoming assessments.
Thing 6 - RSS
RSS feeds are rather useful for many reasons. Often times, we are not concerned with every little update that a website has. It is simply not that relevant to us. But for the few things that we are concerned with the new updates, RSS plays an important role. Subscribing to an RSS feed allows a user to be notified of when new information comes out. This prevents the user from having to constantly check back every so often to look for the update.
It would be extremely useful for a classroom teacher to make use of an RSS feed because then students can be notified of updates in the class's website without having to check each day to see when the update was created.

Thing 5 - Flickr Mashup
http://www.krazydad.com/colrpickr/
The Color Picker for flickr is an interesting tool. It allows one to select a color and then it finds images that match that color. It would be excellent for searching for an image that matches a particular color scheme.
By using this tool, I have found some particularly attractive images that fall under a green color scheme or a red color scheme. I can see this tool being extremely useful for anyone who is in a graphic design type of industry.

Thing 4 - Flickr
Flickr is a photo sharing website. It is an online community for anyone to post their pictures and share them with the Internet.
Flickr can be broken up by categories or tags as they are called. Tags can be any subject, either broad or specific. Some examples include: cat, photography, tour, kids, italy, red, etc.
Groups are pools of images where people add to the collective pool. If I created a group for my mission trip, I would allow everyone who took photos on the mission trip to add photos to that group.

The above link to a lightning shot is an excellent photo with great contrast and amazing color. The white, purble/blue, and black of the image provide an excellent color scheme. The image itself conveys a sense of danger and excitement. Though one would not want to be hit by lightning, the look of this photo is mesmerizing and captivating nonetheless.

Thing 3 - Photo
Here is a photo of Red Leader and I in Chile after we climbed to the top of one of the local mountains.
Thing 2 - Starting a Blog
I am usually not a blogger though I certainly see its advantages as a teacher. Students are so often online that including a teacher's blog as part of their class would serve as a tool to help with instruction and assignments. I currently plan to create a blog/website as a part of my teaching at WCS

Thing 1
When looking at the 7 habits, I realize that the easiest habit for me is the last half. Play. I enjoy making a competition or game out of something. It is not normally fun to simply complete a task but engaging my mind in something that I believe to be enjoyable is easy for me.
The hardest responsibility for me is to accept responsibility for my own learning. I learn best in a structured environment with standards rules imposed. For example, when I am away from the classroom, it is difficult for me to learn sometimes due to the fact that I don’t usually “learn” at home. It is difficult for me to personally structure my own world around learning.
